VDH: OUR LONG ROAD TO WAR WITH IRAN

uuu
ntil last year, for some 46 years, Iran enjoyed a North Korea-like reputation in the heart of the Middle East: always unpredictable, reckless, dangerous, inevitably to be nuclear, self-destructive, and nihilistic. All that said, was it really ever all that formidable?
The mullahs came into power after the removal of the Shah and, subsequently, the interim secular socialists. They did so by taking American hostages, murdering opponents, executing former supporters, and transforming the most secular and modern of the Middle East Muslim nations into the most medieval that routinely hung homosexuals, adulterers, and almost anyone who questioned the authority of the ayatollahs. In other words, these were gruesome people, but they didn’t necessarily have a competent military.
The theocracy’s only constant with the prior monarchical Iran was that it inherited near limitless oil and natural gas reserves, sophisticated arms, and the Shah’s modernized cities. It controlled the key strategic chokepoint at the Strait of Hormuz and enjoyed a geostrategically critical location between Asia and the Middle East. It fueled Iran’s historical chauvinism and pique that the millennia-long historical preeminence of Middle Eastern Persia was not fully appreciated by its Arab neighbors. So there were lots of natural advantages—and all for the most part squandered.
Under the camouflage of Shiite puritanism and otherworldliness, the ayatollahs proved even more corrupt (and far more incompetent) than the Shah’s entourage. They fought a destructive eight-year war with Saddam Hussein’s overrated Iraqi dictatorship and showed they were mostly just as militarily incompetent.
Over decades, they killed and wounded thousands of Americans by bombing U.S. embassies, barracks, and bases in the Middle East—without directly confronting the American military. For years, they sent lethal shaped charge IEDs to the Shiite insurgents to slaughter and maim thousands of Americans in Iraq and to the Taliban to do the same in Afghanistan.
At the first sign of popular protests, the regime never hesitated to gun down thousands of unarmed protesters. And, of course, they were abject hypocrites—hating the West, damning the Great Satan—and sending their pampered children to universities in America. The apparat proved quite earthly in its desire for money, estates, foreign travel, and the good life.
Their general strategies were never hard to follow. One, the theocrats’ prior familiarity with Americans under the Shah and in exile in Europe bred an irrational fixation with and hatred of the West in general that made them useful proxies for the grand designs of communist and then later oligarchic Russia, and later ascendant communist China.
Iranian realpolitik alliances with secular communists were based on the quid pro quo of granting Russia and China access to the Gulf, selling oil to China, and buying arms from both.
Two, they were endlessly chagrined that the Persian Shiites had been overshadowed by more populous Sunni Arab neighbors that supposedly lacked their own historical sophistication and more legitimate claims of embodying and speaking for global Islam.
So they would correct that historical travesty by doing their best to mobilize their clients and proxies to bully, isolate, and weaken Arab autocracies, especially those that are pro-Western.
Three, their planned eventual destruction of Israel would ensure that theocratic and Shiite Iran regained its lost prestige and honor by finally accomplishing what the Sunni world had failed to do. By arming murderous clients in Lebanon, Gaza, Syria, the West Bank, and Yemen, they fashioned a global network of death that compromised European foreign policy toward the Middle East and terrified Western leaders and many of their Arab neighbors.
Fourth and finally, they sought to diminish the role of the United States in the Muslim world, drive it from the Middle East, and wage a virtual 47-year opportunistic war against American citizens and soldiers, with help from their terrorist surrogates.
Iran’s zenith in power and prestige came during Obama’s presidency (2009–17), and the so-called “Iran Deal” that they believed would guarantee them eventual nuclear power status.
However far more importantly, their massive acquisitions of air, land, and sea weapons and the empowering of terrorists, coupled with their passive-aggressive claims to victimhood, both scared and enticed President Obama into dropping sanctions. Soon, he was apologizing for supposed past sins and nocturnally sending them millions of dollars in Danegeld.
Yet worse by far, Obama thought he had squared the circle of neutralizing the supposed Middle Eastern Iranian juggernaut by envisioning it as an empathetic victim—and eventual friend if not ally.
Iran was to be rebooted as the Persian and Shiite righteously aggrieved underdog—bullied unfairly by Western imperialists and their surrogate corrupt Arab petro-kingdom clients for its asceticism and courage in fighting the West since its own birth in 1979.
Obama would remedy this “injustice” by bolstering Iran as a counterweight to not just the Sunni Arab world but to Israel itself. The reset would include an American détente with the murderous pro-Iranian Assad regime in Syria, the supposedly benign neglect of Hezbollah’s takeover of Lebanon, and the championing of the “Palestinians,” which de facto had insidiously become indistinct from Hamas terrorists.
Such creative tension between the Iranian Shiite crescent and a diminished Arab world would be adjudicated from time to time by Obama himself, whose America would go from oppressor to ally of the oppressed.
So by 2017, Iran, for some reason, was considered all-powerful in the Middle East with its missiles, soon-to-be nuclear status, and Hamas, Hezbollah, and Houthi killers who would murder Westerners and Israelis year after year. For the last seven American presidents, the very thought of challenging Iran militarily had been considered taboo, all the more so after the American misadventures in Afghanistan and Iraq.
No one, perhaps not even the Israelis, actually calibrated the true status of Iranian arms or diplomacy. Despite its huge advantages in population, Iran could not defeat Iraq and was reduced to sending 10-year-olds as human pawns to clear minefields. It never directly confronted Israel but always used surrogates to murder Jews, either abroad, as in the slaughter in Argentina, or through its “ring of fire” terrorist cliques that surrounded the borders of the Jewish state.
In sum, no one apparently realized—with the exception of Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu—that beneath its rough, ugly shell, theocratic Iran was rotten and decayed inside. Its corruption and the hatred of its own people ensured that even its huge revenues and sophisticated Chinese and Russian weapons could never translate into a modern, lethal military.
And in summer 2025, the Israelis and Americans first proved that Iran was indeed hollow. Its Arab partner in Syria imploded in weeks. The supposedly goose-stepping Hezbollah shock troops were decimated.
The scary subterranean Hamas may have proved deadly in surprise attacks against unarmed women, children, and the aged, but they were nearly obliterated by the IDF.
The Houthis mimicked Iran’s madness as they sent drones and missiles to shut down the Red Sea and hit Israel. But the U.S. and Israel finally taught them that while the Houthis had no power to harm their enemies’ interior, their Western opponents easily could destroy their airports, ports, power generation, and modern economy in days, and would happily do so if the terror continued.
So here we are, in March 2026, watching the systematic destruction of the entire five-decade façade of a supposedly invincible Iranian military, the systematic elimination of its theocratic leaders, and the dismantling of the Iranian military and Revolutionary Guard terrorists.
The regime has no military ability to ensure its survival. Instead, its rope-a-dope strategy assumes that the U.S. will be attuned to domestic criticism, the looming midterms, the price of gas, and pressure from allies to end the war before the global economy sinks into recession.
We are left somewhat confused. Why did prior presidents not hold Iran accountable for its killing, thus nourishing the myth of Iranian invincibility? Why did Israel not respond earlier to Iran itself rather than just its terrorist clients? And what now are the surviving theocrats thinking? What is their strategy of survival?
The remnants of the theocracy intend to ride out the bombings and, at some point in extremis, expect an armistice from “negotiations.” Their ultimate strategy is to wait out the tenures of both Trump and Netanyahu and hope for another sympathetic president like Obama, or a non compos mentis Biden, or someone ideologically akin to Mamdani or AOC.
When Trump and Netanyahu are out of office, they dream of using their oil to rearm and resume their role as Chinese and Russian proxies, eventually getting the bomb, and the second time around, perhaps using it.
Theocratic Iran, in its fantasies, still believes that if it ever destroyed Israel with a bomb or two, the world, especially given the recrudescence of Western antisemitism, would be appalled—for a day or two.
Then it would resume business with it. And with a dozen or so deterrent nuclear-tipped missiles, the Iranian ritual boilerplate of crazed pronouncements would follow of supposedly welcoming a nuclear pathway to an eternal virginal Paradise.
And thus, we would go full circle back again to a “crazy” Iran, its murderous clients, and its unhinged—but effective—threats. ✪

JB SHURK: THE ‘EXPERTS’ KNOW LESS THAN THEY THINK

ccasionally I hear credentialed professionals with prestigious titles whine about the so-called “war on expertise.” It really bothers people who see themselves as “experts” that a growing share of society ignores them. A psychologist might intuit something revealing from the lack of self-confidence plaguing our “expert” class. If all the fancy degrees, voluminous curricula vitae, and lofty career positions have failed to instill a resilient modicum of self-esteem, then perhaps all those things are not the true measures of a person’s worth.
“Experts” do not like to be challenged. They say things such as, “I have a PhD in this,” or, “I get paid a lot of money to talk about that,” and expect everybody listening to stop thinking and immediately agree with everything the “expert” has to say. I once witnessed a young “race studies” professor intrude into an online debate and tell everyone that she was correct and everybody else was wrong. Her evidence? She cited the costs of her education, her recent promotion, and her new annual salary. Traditionally, that’s considered a specific kind of logical fallacy known as an appeal to authority. When appeals to “expertise” replace reason and rationality, false conclusions are more easily justified.
We have been living in an era rife with appeals to authority masquerading as truth. In fact, I came across something hilariously unsurprising as I was writing this essay. Because Internet search engines no longer operate as research tools but rather as propaganda aggregators, I often have to peruse many pages of search results before I find topical and pertinent sources. Leftwing disinformation index Wikipedia routinely receives prime placement for any online query. I decided to check how the propagandists at Wikipedia describe appeals to authority these days, and the editors did not disappoint (someone as cynical as I):
“While all sources agree this is not a valid form of logical proof, and therefore, obtaining knowledge in this way is fallible, there is disagreement on the general extent to which it is fallible — historically, opinion on the appeal to authority has been divided: it is listed as a non-fallacious argument as often as a fallacious argument in various sources.”
My sides, they hurt so much as I laugh uncontrollably! Then Wikipedia’s meaningless equivocation ends with this gem: “Some consider it a practical and sound way of obtaining knowledge that is generally likely to be correct when the authority is real.”
There you go, kids! So long as the “authority” is “real,” it’s quite “practical” and “sound” to hand your brain over to the resident “expert” or AI machine and let he/she/it do your thinking for you! It’s not a “logical fallacy” if the “authority” says it’s not! How very twenty-first-century of the 1984-like censors, history rewriters, and information warfare specialists who manage the world’s “free” encyclopedia. Wikipedia may be “free,” but it still levies a steep tax. The “price” of offshoring one’s thinking to “experts” is a life filled with few cogent thoughts. That’s too high of a cost for any human seeking wisdom.
Appeals to authority are often absurd. Since the mid-twentieth-century, most of the handsome or beautiful news anchors who tell the world what to believe have been empty-headed script-readers with subpar intellects (Hello, Dan Rather!). According to renowned climate scientist Al Gore, Miami and Manhattan should have spent the last decade submerged under ten feet of water.
At the 2018 United Nations Climate Change Conference, then-fifteen-year-old Swede Greta Thunberg told world leaders that they were “not mature enough to tell it like it is.” Those world leaders — prone to lean directly into appeals to authority themselves; immediately told the planet’s youngest generations to listen to the Swedish teenager if they wanted to survive the carbon apocalypse. Similarly, noted virologist Bill Gates (I forget: Does he have Nobels in both chemistry and medicine?) assured us that we would all die unless we allowed his corporate friends to inject us regularly with experimental serums and did everything government officials say. All the very smartest people spent at least two years telling us that only totalitarianism and censorship could save us from COVID.
It may be absurd to mindlessly trust the “expertise” of Dan Rather, Al Gore, Greta Thunberg, and Bill Gates, but it’s no less dangerous to mindlessly trust the “expertise” of someone whom Wikipedia would no doubt describe as a “real authority.” Dr. Anthony Fauci has all the credentials that people who enjoy credentials salivate over. He has a medical degree. He has a trophy room full of awards. He’s a member of the best institutions. He was the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases for nearly forty years, for goodness’ sake! Wasn’t he also even the highest paid employee in the federal government? Money, accolades, social status — Fauci has it all. His prestige drips with prestige.
Yet he told us that COVID couldn’t possibly have come from a Chinese bio-lab (that he and his associates partially funded). He told us that experimental mRNA “vaccines” would prevent infection…er, reduce spread…er, make symptoms less severe. He told us that natural immunity was no good (because the pharmaceutical companies can’t profit from that). He told us to wear one mask (cloth or paper or whatever), then two masks, then three masks and a plastic shield. He told us that small businesses should close their doors, but that “critical” businesses — such as Walmart — should remain open. He told us that kids should be kept out of school…but perhaps they’d be safe behind plexiglass walls…so long as the powerful heads of public school teachers’ unions thought that “science” was sound. And plenty of people around the world (including America’s cult of “authority”-worshiping Karens and government-worshiping Democrats) admired Fauci’s lustrous prestige, ignored his illogical and contradictory pronouncements, and did whatever he said.
That’s the danger with appeals to authority. When you hand your brain to third-parties, don’t be surprised to discover that “experts” value your life less than you do.
Europeans are learning this lesson the hard way right now. For decades, the “elites” have shunned hydrocarbon energies and made their economies too dependent upon unreliable wind and solar alternatives. European “authorities” decommissioned nuclear power plants, even though doing so meant that European industries became more dependent upon Russian natural gas. Then came the War in Ukraine and the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines. Eventually, Ukraine’s martial-law-holdover-president dictator, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, blocked oil deliveries from Russia through the Druzhba pipeline to Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Germany. And President Trump’s strikes on Iran made it much more difficult for Europe to obtain critical hydrocarbons from the Middle East.
European “authorities” have spent decades using the “global warming” hobgoblin to scare the public into accepting expensive and unreliable sources of energy whose use will do nothing to “save the planet.” However, those “authorities” have managed, to cripple most European industries and make Europe’s cost of living prohibitively expensive.
Inevitably, whenever I even passingly mention Ukraine President/Dictator Zelenskyy, some unhappy readers call me names. Regular commenter “Megan Draper, M.S.” recently wondered, “how much money the Russian government” must be giving me. Another commenter going by the handle “asherpat” implied that I am “a Russian influencing agent.” Putting aside their casual libel, I will point out that both commenters employ another kind of logical fallacy: appeal to ridicule. Although besmirching my character is one way to counter my arguments, it is not one based on solid reasoning.
I suggest that all authorities be challenged regardless of their credentials. Just as degrees are incomplete measures of one’s education, titles of “authority” are poor substitutes for wisdom. It is our capacity for reasoned debate that helps us separate the wheat from the chaff. ✪

DON SURBER: HOW DO I DEFINE VICTORY?

hen we see women like this again in Teheran. Commander-in-Chief Donald Trump updated America on Operation Epic Fury in Iran. No. 47 said, “Their army is gone. Their navy is gone. Their communications are gone. Their leaders are gone. Two sets of their leaders are gone—they’re down to their third set. Their Air Force is wiped out entirely.”
Well, trust but verify, so I asked Grok about the situation beginning with the air force: “Air superiority achieved—U.S. and Israeli forces operate with near-impunity over Iran, having suppressed higher-end air defenses (no longer major factors per U.S. generals). Iran’s air force has played little role in the fighting, contributing minimally compared to its missile/drone barrages.”
Grok also said, “While not every single plane has been confirmed destroyed (wars involve fog and exaggeration), the Iran’s Air Force is combat-ineffective, with U.S./Israeli dominance ensuring it poses no meaningful threat. Claims of total destruction come from high-level U.S. sources, but the practical outcome is the same—Iran has effectively lost its air force capability in this war. The conflict remains active, with strikes continuing.”
Is Iran’s navy destroyed?
Grok: “Yes, Iran’s navy has been effectively destroyed and rendered combat-ineffective by U.S. (and allied) strikes in Operation Epic Fury, though not every single vessel has been sunk—much like the air force’s rapid neutralization.”
Is Iran’s army destroyed?
Grok: “No, Iran’s army (regular Artesh ground forces and the IRGC’s ground elements) has not been completely destroyed, but it has been significantly degraded and largely neutralized as an effective fighting force in the current conflict.”
Is Iran’s secret police destroyed?
Grok: “No, Iran’s secret police (primarily the Ministry of Intelligence and Security, or MOIS/VEVAK, along with IRGC Intelligence Organization elements) has not been completely destroyed, but it has been significantly degraded through targeted strikes on facilities, leadership losses, and broader regime chaos.”
Today is Day 14 of the 60 days President Trump has under the War Powers Act to carry out this mission.
The speed of this wipeout of the enemy military capability rivals that of the Iraq War in 2003, the Persian Gulf War in 1991 and Israel’s Six-Day War in 1967.
The big difference is the American military and the Israel Defense Forces did this without sending in their armies. Bless their hearts, Democrats are trying to throw shade on the initial success of the operation.
On Day 3, Sidney Blumenthal, former senior adviser to President Bill Clinton, wrote in The Guardian, “Trump has cornered himself with his war in Iran.” He wasted no time as he used the word quagmire in his opening paragraph.
Then Blumenthal said, “He offered as his imperative Iranian ‘imminent threats,’ which the Pentagon briefed congressional staffers after Operation Epic Fury began was simply without basis in fact. There was no intelligence suggesting an ‘imminent threat.’ Where’s the WMD?” How does some political hack who left the White House 25 years ago know what proof there is?
The operation has disrupted oil shipments worldwide and stock markets are more nervous than a long-tailed cat in a roomful of rocking chairs to use grandma’s favorite expression. No one like to pay $3.49 a gallon for gasoline—except Californians who are paying $5.49. Vote stupid, win stupid prizes.
Democrats are playing up the economy and inflation, as one might expect. The war now is costing a billion or so a day. Keeping Iran from turning its uranium into dirty bombs is worth it.
The American press for the most part is being cautious and keeping its TDS under control. The View is the exception of course with Whoopi Goldberg dismissing it as a “purposeful distraction” from the Jeffrey Epstein files. If so, the Clintons should thank President Trump.
Sunny Hostin called the strikes on Iran’s military illegal and unconstitutional. I avoid arguing with numbskulls. But there are talking heads on cable news who get it.
On CNN, Brianna Lyman said:
▶️ 33 Seconds
Actually there was a report in The New York Times and they interviewed an engineer from Tehran, and what he said was interesting. He said that a lot of people in Tehran, in Iran actually don’t necessarily want the bombs to stop dropping because if the bombs stop dropping it means that the Iranian regime currently in place is still in place. And for them they said we are thought of as human shields for the Iranian regime so we want this regime gone.
Of course, bombings are horrible especially when they accidentally kill young girls. That is absolutely tragic and awful. But I do think the Iranian people see this as a risk calculation.
The Iranian government said the dead include 1,200 civilians. Considering the Islamic regime killed up to 40,000 protesters in the first two months of the year, the pace of the death toll of civilians fell as Iran’s bully police are on the run now, as they fear American bombs landing on them.
A Fox reporter said:
▶️ 1 Minute 3 Seconds
When we ask people why are they leaving everything behind? Why are they fleeing their country? Why not perhaps stay and protest against this regime? One man said: I’m not sure if you can protest against this regime. They have a religious view. So anybody who protests against them is God’s enemy. They say protesters are heretics and you can kill them.
Finally, Victor Davis Hanson told Laura Ingraham:
▶️ 49 Seconds
There’s three possible outcomes in our view, and they’re all better than the pre-war one. The first is that we did so much damage to the military, and discredit, there’s a popular revolt.“I’m not sure that’s going to happen but it could. The second is the Venezuela situation where somebody emerges that we’re not really in favor of, but they’re going to put a lid on the theocracy and work with the West.
And the third is you’re just going to do so much damage to the command and control and the military infrastructure that you just let them stew in their own juice and then you say to the Iranian people, these people did this to you. And we’re here to help some time but go to it.” And whatever happens will be better than having them close to a nuclear weapon and with all the assets they had. So, we’re in a good position, Laura.
This gunboat diplomacy, but it also is a classic President Trump negotiation. He asks for the first but will settle for the second and will accept the third if necessary.
Regime change will come from within the Iranian people. America can make the Islamic Republic impotent to the world but only the people of Iran can make the regime change they need. ✪
▶️ IS THE TWELTH IMAM ALREADY AMONG US?

IS THE TWELTH IMAM ALREADY AMONG US?

333
he Shi’ite branch of Islam, which has flourished as the official religion of the Islamic Republic of Iran under the various ayatollahs for the last half century, believes in the return of the so-called Twelfth Imam, who is descended from Mohammed’s son-in-law Ali ibn Abni Talib. Talib was the fourth caliph assassinated in 661 in a succession war, after which the split between Sunnis and Shi’ites eventually became permanent. According to the traditions of Twelver Shi’ism, the twelfth of these Imams, a boy of five years old, disappeared under mysterious and disputed circumstances in the year 874 – but remained alive. Though communicating with the world through various agents, he entered the state of “occultation” in 941, promising to return when the time would be propitious.
The reigning authority on Twelver Shi’ism is the historian Emmanuel Sivan, who, in his magisterial volume on the subject, Radical Islam: Medieval Theology and Modern Politics, warned that an integral part of Shi’a Islam’s belief and thought involves the initiation of a planetary conflagration. This belief system posits that Allah’s kingdom will be established on earth by the Twelfth or Hidden Imam, also known as the Mahdi, whose advent can be hastened by creating the right set of circumstances: friction and misunderstanding among the nations and violent upheavals in a welter of blood and fire. The nuclear option is Iran’s favored methodology to bring this about.
Incredulous westerners who would pass this off as merely a quaint belief to be taken with a grain of salt, or indeed with a whole salt shaker, should reconsider. Sivan spends many pages describing and analyzing the Shi’ite vision of an “ideal, legitimate state to be instituted by its leader, the Hidden Imam.” Over the course of history, he writes, a “minority of Shi’ites, quite substantial and dangerous at times, would move from pessimistic idealism to an optimistic brand of the same approach—the imam’s arrival is imminent, Allah’s kingdom is bound to be brought upon earth by this messiah (mahdi), and one should help precipitate its descent by armed revolt.” The Mahdi’s arrival has, indeed, been eagerly anticipated.
What the world does not yet know is precisely what the Iranian mullahs have been gleefully assuming, namely, that the Twelfth Imam has already returned and been hard at work arranging the approaching apocalypse. An occult scripture, unearthed in a clay jar at an excavation works near the Arak nuclear site and labeled the Arak Codex #190001, reposes in the Inscriptions Department of the Malik National Museum of Iran in Tehran. Only the ayatollahs and a few select individuals (including the present writer) have been privileged to this document. According to the scripture, the Mahdi has indeed returned and has fulfilled all the signs and portents that announce his presence.
He is half black, half white. He is tall and strides with a lope. He possesses dead eyes and prominent ears and is starkly skeletal in appearance. His background is both obscure and exotic. He is persuasively eloquent and is adept at saying one thing while doing another. His head swivels from side to side when addressing the multitudes, as if reading from prepared texts no doubt lowered from on high and inscribed by the Lord or one of his mala’ikah. He gives the distinct impression of being a man-child. He is supremely confident and exudes a certain boyish charm many find irresistible. He is devoted to popular sports involving holes and nets as emblems of ensnaring. He bows frequently in false humility, cajoling the high and mighty of the earth, yet brooks no objection to his will when dissent is offered. He is to be found in many different places from one day to another. He is surrounded by loyal minions, many of whom appear to be imbeciles, who do his bidding without question or scruple. He is the keeper of the jinn and the ifrit. And he is building a fortress-like library in a major city of the enemy to consolidate his legacy.
Let me be very clear about this, for there are those who cannot bring themselves to confront the evidence of the Twelfth Imam’s uncloaking that I, privy to the discovery of the mystical codex through means I am forbidden to reveal, now set before them. All his actions have been directed toward igniting the flames that wait to engulf the world. He has diligently undermined the laws, security, and prosperity of the people he pretended to represent as a Manchurian president, and continues to turn one against the other, sowing discord among the populace.
He is the prince of lies. He sponsors and supports warlike groups and aggressive regimes that seek world hegemony. He is an undeclared enemy of the Jewish people and the Jewish state. He is a great friend to Islam in its march toward imposing a caliphate upon unsuspecting nations. He smiles upon the ayatollahs and has signed agreements that facilitate their holy designs to kindle universal violence and establish Allah’s kingdom on earth. He has delivered untold riches to the rulers of Iran to assist them in developing weapons of mass annihilation.
He has been schooled at the feet of sages and oracles and learned from the masters of canon and creed. He is the repository of sacred teachings and potent incantations, and is adept at uttering sonorous phrases that please as they befuddle. He is the embodiment of consecrated, numinous, and venerable doctrine. He is the dark haruspex of what is meant to be. He is no longer Hidden except when he determines it is apposite and will from time to time exult among us in all his glory. He is the bringer of chaos and the last days. He will inaugurate a new world order.
Doubters and skeptics must give way. The Twelfth Imam has returned, confirmed in his exaltation by innumerable tokens and crests and auguries. Devastation will follow him, and resurrection will surely come in his wake. The infidel shall be destroyed, destroyed utterly, and the believer shall rise from the smoldering ruins in triumph and gladness of heart. All this shall come to pass, for it is written.
The prophet of destruction is among us. He operates in the shadows and in the light of day. He is livid and vituperative. He is the Mahdi.✪
▶️ THE END OF THE ANONYMOUS INTERNET

THE END OF THE ANONYMOUS INTERNET

mmm
ongress is once again advancing legislation under the banner of protecting children online; and whenever government begins framing policy in moral language, it usually means something far more intrusive is being constructed beneath the surface. The latest push on the Kids Online Safety Act centers on mandatory age-verification systems that would require online platforms to verify users’ age before allowing access to content.
If companies are required to confirm a user’s age, they must collect identifying information. That means uploading government IDs, facial scans, biometric verification, or some form of identity credential simply to access websites or social media platforms. The open internet that once allowed individuals to communicate anonymously has suddenly become an identification checkpoint.
Privacy organizations and digital rights advocates have already warned that these requirements pressure websites to collect enormous amounts of sensitive personal information just to allow ordinary speech online. Once these databases exist, they become irresistible targets for hackers, governments, and corporate data collection. The same institutions that routinely suffer massive data breaches now want citizens to upload even more sensitive identification simply to read information or participate in discussions.
Even regulators themselves are quietly acknowledging the contradiction. Officials have admitted that these verification systems require collecting personal data in ways that could conflict with existing privacy protections for children. Yet the legislation continues moving forward because the political incentives are obvious. No politician wants to be seen opposing a bill marketed as protecting children.
This is exactly how surveillance infrastructure has historically developed. It never begins with governments announcing they want to monitor citizens. Instead, it begins with policies designed to address social problems. Once the identification systems are built, the infrastructure remains permanent. What starts as age verification inevitably becomes identity verification for broader purposes.
The implications for speech are enormous. Anonymous communication has been part of political culture for centuries. The Federalist Papers themselves were written under pseudonyms. The internet extended that tradition globally by allowing individuals to exchange ideas without fear of retaliation from governments, employers, or political movements. Age-verification mandates fundamentally change that structure by requiring users to link identity credentials to online participation.
Governments have repeatedly demonstrated they cannot secure large databases. Massive data breaches occur every year across both public agencies and private corporations. Expanding identity verification requirements only increases the amount of sensitive information circulating across already-vulnerable systems.
Once platforms are required to verify identity or age, that framework can easily be expanded to regulate speech, political content, financial activity, or access to information. The infrastructure becomes permanent even if the original justification fades away. The internet began as an open communications network where individuals could exchange information freely across borders. Requiring identification to access information transforms that environment into a monitored space where participation depends on presenting credentials.
It is standard political tactics to bring in the children when you want to sell an agenda. Obama brought in children to hide a covert effort as did Hitler. Praise the children and nobody can argue.
These people have really abused the younger generation who think they have no future because of climate change. To sell any agenda, just use children. ✪

IRAN ATTACKS OIL TANKERS IN THE PERSIAN GULF

ran pursued its strategy of economic warfare on Thursday, attacking two oil tankers in the Persian Gulf and repeating its threats to cut off oil shipments through the vital trade route.
Iran also launched a coordinated attack on Israel with its Lebanese proxy Hezbollah, while the Israeli military reported strikes on a “critical” nuclear site near the Iranian capital of Tehran.
The two oil tankers struck off the Iraqi coast in the Persian Gulf overnight were more severely damaged than previous Iranian targets, with massive fires burning on both ships, and at least one fatality reported:
▶️ 29 Seconds
The Times of Israel (TOI) reported Iran took responsibility for one tanker attack, but has not yet mentioned the other. The government of Iraq believes Iran perpetrated both acts of “sabotage” and expressed “deep concern” about further risks to oil tankers in the Gulf.
Senior Iraqi officials told the left-wing outlet the New York Times (NYT) that both ships were employed by Iraq to transport its oil products. The ship Iran admitted to attacking was U.S.-owned but flagged under the Marshall Islands.
Iran’s terrorist Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said the ship was attacked because it “disobeyed and ignored our warnings.” The IRGC said it would target any ship linked to the United States, Israel, or any of their “partners” (which Iran currently defines as any Middle Eastern nation that allows American troops on its soil), with the objective of driving oil prices above $200 per barrel.
Oil prices rose above $100 on news of the tanker attacks before receding back below that threshold later on Thursday.
Iraq has temporarily suspended operations at its oil terminals following the tanker attacks, and one of Oman’s oil ports was also hit by Iranian drones.
Iran might have perpetrated a third attack on a commercial vessel on Thursday, as a container ship off the coast of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was struck by an unknown projectile and suffered a small fire. According to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) center, there were no injuries from the incident.
Iran launched more missiles against Israel on Wednesday night and Thursday, as part of what Israeli media described as an “integrated Hezbollah and Iran joint attack.” The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Thursday:
“The IDF is operating with determination against the Hezbollah terrorist organization following its deliberate decision to attack Israel on behalf of the Iranian regime. The IDF will not tolerate any harm to Israeli civilians and will forcibly respond against any threat posed to the State of Israel.”
Hezbollah dubbed the operation “Eaten Straw,” a name drawn from a verse in the Quran that discusses how to completely destroy an enemy. Israel Alma Research and Education Center security expert Sarit Zehavi told Fox News:
“I think that Hezbollah is trying to scare Israel from launching further operations and I truly hope that we will not be afraid, and our government will do what it has to do.”
Israel responded with powerful attacks on Hezbollah positions south of Lebanon, prompting the Lebanese government to plead with U.S. and European leaders to broker a ceasefire. Israeli officials reportedly refused Lebanon’s ceasefire proposal because it did not do enough to disarm Hezbollah as Lebanon was supposed to do last year under the Gaza War ceasefire agreement.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz on Thursday warned Lebanese President Joseph Aoun that if he does not halt Hezbollah’s attacks, “we will take the territory and do it ourselves.”
Katz said he and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have instructed the IDF to “prepare for an expansion of IDF activity in Lebanon and to restore calm and security to the northern communities.”
The IDF said on Thursday that it struck a facility near Tehran that was working on “critical capabilities in the development of nuclear weapons.”
The site is a compound called Taleghan located within the Parchin military complex that was also struck by the IDF in October 2024, after Iran launched a missile attack against Israel. Israeli military officials said a new attack was necessary because Iran has “taken steps to rehabilitate the compound” and “continued efforts to advance and develop capabilities required for the development of a nuclear weapon.”
The Jerusalem Post reported that Iran made efforts in February to conceal construction activity at Taleghan from satellites. The site has been used in the past to test explosives that could be used in the construction of a nuclear warhead. ✪

RINOS ARE SQUANDERING A CHANCE TO FIX BROKEN ELECTIONS

ddd
hile Senate Majority Leader John Thune and his RINO chums plead powerlessness to move an election integrity bill the vast majority of Americans support, a group of House Republicans is — in the words of President Donald Trump — going for the gold.
“The MEGA Act is the most comprehensive package of election reforms in a generation,” Rep. Bryan Steil, R-Wis., chairman of the House Administration Committee, said at a roundtable discussion last month.
The chairman of the committee that oversees federal elections unveiled the election integrity bill in late January. Provisions include:
› Requiring states to verify citizenship of individuals when registering to vote.
› Implementing stronger routine voter list maintenance requirements in states.
› Requiring photo identification to vote.
› Implementing stronger routine voter list maintenance requirements in states.
› Requiring mail-in ballots to be received by the close of polls on election day.
› Requiring states to use auditable paper ballots.
› Banning ballot harvesting.
› Banning ranked-choice voting.
› Banning universal vote by mail.
Ken Cuccinelli, national chairman of the Election Transparency Initiative said the SAVE America Act and the broader MEGA Act will “fix structural weaknesses in federal election law.”
Election law expert Hans von Spakovsky agreed. “This bill is needed to correct and fix longstanding problems in election administration, some caused by prior federal statutes that restrict the ability of state election officials to maintain accurate voter registration lists,” von Spakovsky, senior legal fellow at The Edwin Meese III Institute for the Rule of Law at Advancing American Freedom said following last month’s roundtable.
“It will benefit all voters by helping ensure the security and integrity of their most precious right — the right to vote,” he added. The League of Women Voters hates it, so you know it’s got to be good.
✪ ‘There Isn’t Anything I Can Do’
But the MEGA Act’s odds of landing on Trump’s desk are as long as the Siena Saints’ chances of winning the Men’s NCAA National Basketball championship.
As of early Friday morning, Kalshi, a key player in the prediction markets, was giving the SAVE Act just an 11.4 percent chance of becoming law.
Thune insists Republicans don’t have the votes to pass the basic voter verification bill — requiring documentary proof of citizenship to register to vote and a photo ID to cast a ballot. That’s because the majority leader hasn’t given it a snow ball’s chance in hell.
He very much wants you to know how brave he is for even moving the bill to the floor next week. A colleague said he received a fundraising text urging him to support Thune’s act of courage.
However the Senate’s top Republican refuses to motivate his lazy RINO friends to put in the work to give passage a chance. Thune won’t budge on a talking filibuster, which offers a difficult but possible path to passage. Instead, he’s dooming the SAVE America Act to die under the weight of the 60-vote threshold to end debate on the bill.
“We don’t have the votes either to proceed, get on a talking filibuster, nor to sustain one if we got on it,” Thune said earlier this week. “But that is just a function of math, and there isn’t anything I can do about that. I mean, I understand the president’s got a passion to see this issue addressed, as we all do.”
No, they all don’t. Thune’s got at least one “Republican” on record saying she won’t support it at all (minds can be changed, of course with sticks and carrots, like Democrats do), a few more that want to avoid a vote like the plague, and others who fail to see the value or are just too indolent to back the talking filibuster end-around.
✪ 100 Percent On Senate Leader Thune
In a lame move to placate his many conservative critics, Thune is reportedly eyeing a prolonged debate that would at least force Democrats to defend why they oppose legislation that is supported by more than 70 percent of American voters. In fact, a new Harvard CAPS/Harris poll finds 71 percent of respondents support the SAVE America Act, including 69 percent of independents. The poll also found 81 percent support voter ID, including 79 percent independents and 70 percent Democrats. And 75 percent of those surveyed back proof of U.S. citizenship to vote in U.S. elections.
So why can’t they get their representatives in D.C. to support the critical election reforms? Because Democrat politicians recoil from election integrity like the undead from light. And some Republicans care much more about enriching themselves than saving the republic. The voters in their states should evict them from their cushy congressional seats as soon as the next applicable election.
“This is really 100 percent on Leader Thune. I know for a fact the American people have told their senators what they want, both Democrats and Republicans,” Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R- Fla., told Fox Business earlier this week:
▶️ 1 Minute 20 Seconds
Thune is the Majority Leader. He is “clothed with immense power,” as President Abraham Lincoln is reputed to have said when demanding congressional passage of the Thirteenth Amendment. Lincoln, of course, was a leader emerging from the smoke, blood, and rot of a merciless civil war. Thune is an establishment man who doesn’t seem all that concerned about the “will of the people.” He’s more interested in the comforts of Congress. But he’s finding out that it might just be more work to pretend to be doing work than actually doing it.
✪ We Have An Opportunity
Meanwhile, Republicans in a razor-thin House majority keep leading on election integrity. Somebody has to. Americans have lost a lot of faith in their elections.
A poll last month by the Center for Transparent and Trusted Elections found just 60 percent of respondents said they are confident votes will be counted accurately nationwide in the 2026 midterms, a 17 percentage point drop since just after the 2024 presidential election.
The SAVE America Act would go a long way to restore confidence. The MEGA Act would be even better. Dare to dream.
“We absolutely need the two key provisions in the SAVE America Act — we do need citizenship verification and photo ID. But I think we have to go a long way beyond that,” Steil told me on a recent edition of the Dan O’Donnell Show in Milwaukee. The Wisconsin Republican added:
“I think we have an opportunity here with President Trump in the White House, who is acutely attuned to the exact challenges we face in elections and the need to reform them, that this is our moment in time to substantively fix U.S. elections so that Americans once again have full confidence in the results we see as tallied on election night.”
Some Republicans care much more about enriching themselves than saving the republic. So much for the ‘will of the people.’ The opportunity at hand is quickly slipping away. ✪
▶️ WE THE PEOPLE NEVER VOTED FOR MASS ISLAMIC IMMIGRATION

WE THE PEOPLE NEVER VOTED FOR MASS ISLAMIC IMMIGRATION

lll
slam is largely alien to American history—it certainly didn’t come into the United States on the Mayflower,” freshman Rep. Brandon Gill (R-Tex.) observed last month. Gill continued: “It’s something that we deliberately imported as a matter of immigration policy into our country.”
Quite right. But who, exactly, is the “we” who implemented such a reckless—indeed, suicidal—act of mass cultural importation? It’s a frustratingly difficult question—and one we ought to be asking, especially in light of recent events.
For two years after the Hamas pogrom of Oct. 7, 2023, keffiyeh-clad Muslim students did their best Hitler Youth impressions on American university campuses, clamoring to eliminate the State of Israel and “globalize the intifada” more broadly. A lone wolf ISIS jihadist mowed down 15 and injured 30 others in the Bourbon Street New Year’s Day massacre of 2025. Somalis in Minnesota bilked federal taxpayers to the tune of billions of dollars’ worth of welfare fraud, culminating in a lethal recent bout of neo-Confederate immigration anarchism and the premature political demise of Gov. Tim Walz (D-Minn.).
In Dearborn, Mich., the Muslim mayor told a Christian minister he “was not welcome here” because he objected to renaming a local street after a Hezbollah supporter. Outside the nation’s capital, a local mosque held a vigil for “our leader,” the deceased “shaheed” (martyr), Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. And most recently, the Muslim mayor of the nation’s largest city—a man who for years struggled mightily to condemn Hamas and intifada itself—not only refused to condemn an ISIS-inspired IED attack by two radicalized young Mohammedans, but proceeded to then host Hamas apologist Mahmoud Khalil at Gracie Mansion for an iftar diner. Most recently, on Thursday a radicalized Muslim opened fire at Virginia’s Old Dominion University.
There is endless more where that came from. Suffice it to say that America’s grand, decades-long experiment in welcoming in all peoples and all cultures is not going well. And it is going particularly poorly when it comes to those followers of the Religion of Peace. It turns out that Islam and Americanism go together about as well as the Hatfields and the McCoys—or Bill Clinton and chastity.
Which brings us back to our earlier questions: Who voted for this? Who did this? And how did this happen? And make no mistake: Islamic immigration and the insidious Islamization of American society, more generally, is happening. We do not merely know that from the myriad anecdotal stories about the adhan (call to prayer) being blasted from minarets at obnoxiously early times in cities like Minneapolis and Brooklyn. We have some numbers to back it up too.
At the time of the landmark Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965, there were an estimated 100,000 to 150,000 Muslims living in the United States. At the time of the 2020 United States Religion Census, there were an estimated 4.5 million Muslims in the country. By the year 2050, that number is estimated to nearly double to 8.1 million. Huge swaths of the American Muslim community, unsurprisingly, are immigrants—those, in theory (!), who We the People through our duly elected representatives chose to bring here because we believed they would have a positive impact on the common good. Instead, we got D.C.-area mosque vigils for a despotic monster who sought “Death to America,” a staggering 54% food stamp rate and 73% Medicaid rate for Minnesota Somalis, campus activism on behalf of numerous U.S. State Department-recognized Foreign Terrorist Organizations, Ivy League calls for the “total eradication” of Western civilization, and more.
Not exactly a smashing success, it it?
In the early decades of the republic, Presidents Thomas Jefferson and James Madison waged the First and Second Barbary Wars against radical Muslim pirates—the Houthis of their day—off the northern African coast. To this day, The Marines’ Hymn famously makes reference to “fight[ing] our country’s battles” off “the shores of Tripoli.” In fact, those wars were highly instrumental in the initial building up of the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps into the world-renowned fighting forces they are today. Now, Americans seem to be letting Muslims—millions of them—into the country through a very wide front door. Far from fighting them or recognizing their comprehensive religio-political worldview as antithetical to the American way life, we are rolling out the red carpet (and doling out fraudulent welfare benefits).
But still: Who is doing this? And why are they doing so?
The convoluted and deeply unsatisfying as to “who” is an unholy amalgamation of bipartisan “legal immigration good, illegal immigration bad”-besotted lawmakers, ideologically inclined Deep State immigration bureaucrats, and well-connected leftist and Islamic NGOs, all of whom work in disastrous tandem to disburse visas to millions of people who hate us and want our nation and civilization to die.
The answer as to “why” is a bit more straightforward: A zealous belief in multiculturalism and unwavering adherence to the lie that “all cultures are equal,” on the one hand, and a desire to dilute and distort America’s ecumenical Judeo-Christian biblical inheritance, on the other hand. And for the Islamic NGOs, they get their hijra—soft jihad by means of mass migration.
There’s just one problem—well, one problem other than that whole thorny Islamization thing. And that problem is this: We the People never actually voted for any of this. The massive spike in the Muslim population in America has virtually all been effectuated by shadowy immigration bureaucrats, who control the keys to America’s esoteric visa disbursement regime, as well as distasteful and America-hating NGOs. There has never been a single instance where the American people, or even a statistically significant subgroup of the American people, have directly weighed in on the wisdom of large-scale importation of Mohammedans into the centuries-old Judeo-Christian biblical tapestry that is the United States of America.
The patriots of 1776 fought a long and bloody war, among other reasons, because of the soft tyranny of Mother Britain’s taxation of the colonists without representation. But in the post-1965 Immigration and Nationality Act paradigm of mass Muslim immigration to America, we are dealing with something considerably more serious: societal transformation without representation.
This particular problem is, of course, in accord with decades of unlawful accumulation and solidification of power in the administrative state, and away from our duly elected representatives in Congress, more generally. But in this case, the problem is even worse because it directly implicates the most foundational question in all of politics, going back at least as far as Aristotle two-plus millennia ago: Who are we as a polity, as a nation?
To deprive the American people of any meaningful say in this matter is a scandal of historic proportions. And it’s a scandal, as we’ve already seen, with positively disastrous results. Even worse, we are now only at the very beginning of this grand experiment in Islamization. Who knows what things might look like a few decades from now? (I’ll hazard a guess: not great!)
The good news, from a jurisprudential perspective, is that the current U.S. Supreme Court views administrative power quite skeptically and is now in the midst of a years-long effort to restore something resembling the original tripartite separation of powers construct. The bad news is America is now stuck with a gargantuan subversive fifth column Islamist problem from sea to shining sea. All policy options, such as sweeping immigration bans, mass deportations, and denaturalizations of wrongly naturalized citizens, must be on the table to help remedy—or at least assuage—the problem the best we possibly can.
And ultimately, we must reclaim the power to dictate who we are, as a people, and what our collective national destiny will be. In this, the 250th anniversary of our nation’s Founding, it’s certainly what our Founders would have wanted us to do. ✪
