âȘ Former President Donald Trump on Wednesday offered his services to âhead upâ a group to help negotiate a deal between Ukraine and Russia following the likely deliberate explosions that took out both of Russiaâs gas pipelines to Europe. âThe entire world is at stake,â Trump said...
The former president also claimed that the Russian invasion of Ukraine would not have happened if he were still in office.
After learning of the leaks on the Russian-owned Nord Stream 1 pipeline Tuesday, Swedenâs Maritime Authority issued the following warning.
âThere are two leaks on Nord Stream 1 â one in Swedish economic zone and one in Danish economic zone. They are very near each other,â a Swedish Maritime Administration (SMA) spokesperson told Reuters.
Experts say that the destruction of both Nord Stream pipelines was most likely caused by a deliberate explosion, rather than a natural occurrence such as an earthquake.
While many in the international media pointed to Russia as the culprit, the Kremlin dismissed those claims, describing the idea that Russia was behind the attack on the Nord Stream gas pipelines as âquite predictable and also predictably stupid.â
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told reporters that the incident needed to be investigated and that the timings for the repair of the damaged pipelines were not clear.
Earlier this year, both Joe Biden, and Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland explicitly stated that blowing up the pipelines was something that was very much on the table.
Biden told reporters in February that if Russia invaded Ukraine, âthere will be no longer be a Nord Stream 2, we will bring an end to it.â When asked how he planned to do that, Biden replied, âI promise you, weâll be able to do it.â
âWow, what a statement. World War III anyone?â Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social Wednesday, in reaction to a clip of Biden saying those words.
In January, Nuland warned, âif Russia invades Ukraine, one way or another, Nord Stream 2 will not move forward.â
The German magazine Spiegel reported on Tuesday that the CIA warned its counterparts in Berlin earlier this summer of possible attacks on gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea.

âEveryone is talking about the big hurricane barreling into Florida, as they should be, but perhaps a far more important event in the longer term was the announcement that the Nord Stream I & II Pipelines out of Russia (which I brought to the Worldâs attention as President when I explained how crippling reliance on it could be for Germany and other parts of Europe,â Trump wrote on Truth Social. âEverybody laughed at the time, but they are not laughing anymore!) has been SABOTAGED. This could lead to major escalation, or War!â
In a subsequent post, Trump wrote: âU.S. âLeadershipâ should remain âcool, calm, and dryâ on the SABOTAGE of the Nord Stream Pipelines.â
This is a big event that should not entail a big solution, at least not yet. The Russia/Ukraine catastrophe should NEVER have happened, and would definitely not have happened if I were President. Do not make matters worse with the pipeline blowup. Be strategic, be smart (brilliant!), get a negotiated deal done NOW. Both sides need and want it. The entire World is at stake. I will head up group???
During an interview with New Yorkâs 77 WABC radio, Trump was asked by owner, operator and host John Catsimatidis what things âkeep you up at night.“
âI think more than anything else, I think we could end up in World War III and it could be all of the horrible things that took place in Ukraine,â Trump replied.
âLooks like itâs going to happen in China with Taiwan, as you know, and you see whatâs going on over there.â Trump added, âI think weâre at the most dangerous time maybe in, in many, many years â maybe ever â because of the power of nuclear. For a major nation thatâs equal with us on nuclear power to be throwing around the word cavalierly, like nuclear, is, is a very bad time. A very bad time for this country and a very bad and a very dangerous time for the world.â
Trump noted again that if he were still president, Russian President Vladimir Putin would not have invaded Ukraine. âI got along with him very well. I spoke to him. I understood him. He understood me, probably. But I understood him well, and he would have never done it,â he told Catsimatidis.
As well as he got along with Putin, Trumpâs administration did take many actions many actions against the Kremlin, including numerous sanctions, and the shipping of military aid to Ukraine. âȘ
