âȘ The fate of the American trucker convoy has already been decided by President Joe Biden and his allies who, despite promises from the Freedom Convoy protesters that they will remain peaceful, are already painting them as domestic threats.
Like the many people who only peacefully protested at the Capitol on Jan. 6, the truckers will be smeared as domestic terrorists by the Biden Administration and the News Media.
The bulk of American truckers and allies will not officially launch their journey to Washington, DC until March 1, but officials in the nationâs capital have already gone to extreme lengths to ensure the Americans uniting for freedom from the tyranny that has wreaked havoc on the nation for the last two years will feel anything but welcomed.
The American Freedom Convoy has pledged to keep their protests peaceful and deter bad actors, but their promises have fallen on deaf ears. No matter how peaceful the protesters are, they will be smeared by the increasingly corrupt government as being a âthreat.â Already, government officials in D.C. are ramping up security and bracing for far more than what is expected from any of the truckers.
The United States Capitol Police announced last week that they are âclosely coordinating with local, state and federal law enforcement agenciesâ and are even discussing additional fencing around the Capitol grounds. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin also ordered at least 700 additional National Guard troops to the capital city ahead of the convoyâs expected arrival.
Even Metropolitan Police Department Chief Robert Contee pledged his officers would work overtime to combat what he says will be âdisruptions to traffic, and that kind of thing.â
âI think we need to be very candid with the public about what some of our expectations are; based upon what weâve already seen happen in Ottawa. We might see something very similar here in the District,â he told the Associated Press.
While D.C. officials panic, Biden has every reason to embrace the thousands of these blue-collar workers he supposedly claims to support â but he wonât. The Biden Administration has already shown discomfort over the Canadian Freedom Convoy by pressuring the Trudeau government to crack down on its citizens; much like Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau did at the beginning of the Ottawa standoff. The White House is already painting the imminent U.S. convoy as a direct threat which requires increased federal and law enforcement attention.
âWe have been working ⊠closely with our federal, state, and local partners to continuously assess the threat environment and keep our communities safe,â White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki told reporters this week. âAnd our efforts include enhanced intelligence sharing, a Critical Incident Response Plan for the U.S. Capitol, a regional security assessment and a simulation experiment that developed data-driven recommendations to bolster regional security.â
Trudeau similarly signaled his disdain for the original Freedom Convoy long before the peak of the movement in Ottawa because he claimed they held âunacceptable viewsâ contrary to those of most Canadians.
âThe small fringe minority of people who are on their way to Ottawa who hold unacceptable views they are expressing do not represent the views of Canadians,â Trudeau said during a press conference in late January.
Nor did Trudeau lend the truckers a listening ear when he should have. Instead, the prime minister fled his Ottawa residence to hide in an undisclosed location before finally invoking the Emergencies Act. He also smeared the movement on Twitter and accused the Freedom Convoy of harboring racist vandals. Other government officials, taking notes from the Democratsâ Jan. 6 committee in the House, labeled the convoy a ânationwide insurrection.â
As the situation in Canada has revealed, there is a rising global push to normalize governments attacking their political opponents. The American truckers and protesters have every right to believe their cause is justified and supported by many people at home and abroad, as it was in Canada, yet the Biden Administration and D.C. officials will still use this opportunity to further discredit conservatives.
Democrats already decided the fate of the American Freedom Convoy before it even began. The truckersâ should be allowed to peacefully protest against the tyranny that has been normalized during Covid and highlight the corruption of the Biden Administration.
Unfortunately, much like the many people who peacefully protested at the Catitol on January 6, the truckers will be smeared as domestic terrorists and labeled the next group of insurrectionists seeking to undermine American democracy. âȘ
